Why Texas Hold´em is my favorite casino game

With all the bright lights and excitement in a casino, it´s hard to get a chance to play everything. It´s even harder to choose a favorite. A lot of people like craps, because they feel that they can control the dice. Lots of people enjoy blackjack, because you can play with a good strategy, and if you count cards, you can really pull in some dough. As for me, I like Texas Hold´em best of all the games at the casino.

Texas Hold’em isn’t a standard casino game, because it’s a poker game. That means that it’s often played in a separate poker room, and not on the main casino floor. Still, it’s about betting and winning. I like Texas Hold’em, because it’s not like a lot of other casino games. In most casino games, you’re playing against the house. In Texas Hold’em, you’re playing against other players, and you just pay a little rake to the house.

Another thing I like about Texas Hold’em is that there really is a lot of strategy to it. For example if you hold a pair of sixes, but there’s a king and a queen out on the board, then you know that someone’s gotta have a better pair than you. It’s pretty easy to guess at what other players might have. Now in Seven Card Stud, you have to be aware of so many more cards, and the potential for your opponent having an awesome hand in Omaha is too high for my tastes.

The only downside to Texas Hold’em is that you have to be wide awake and thinking the whole time. That means you can’t just be taking comped cocktails all day. You gotta keep sharp. You have to stick to soft drinks and maybe even a dose of caffeine here and there. If you wanna play slots, you don’t have to think at all. You used to have to pull a handle on the one-armed bandit, but these days, you just push a button. In fact, in some casinos, it’s so sophisticated that you don’t even have to push a button. You can just sit there and watch.

That’s not for me though. I like to be active. I like my mind working overtime. I love playing against tough opponents, watching them fold to my bluffs. I love watching their responses to my bets. It’s a real thrill, and it’s different from the other games in the casino. Sure, I love watching the dice I roll hit my boxcars. That’s awesome. And I love rolling the dice. I like watching my numbers come up for roulette too. None of it compares to the joys of outwitting an opponent at the Texas Hold’em table.

When I’m not in Vegas or Atlantic City, I play Texas Hold’em online, but it’s just not the same. I love being at the table, feeling the energy in the room, and just experiencing the wonder that is Texas Hold’em.

Playing Behind the Seat Live Blackjack

For a while now, players at Playtech casinos have been enjoying a special functionality added to the blackjack live dealer tables. The “Behind the Seat” feature lets players serve as observers of a live blackjack game, with the ability to simple watch or actually take part in the game.
Take a Seat

At any time, interested players can take a virtual sit behind players that are playing at a live blackjack table. This function works exactly like it sounds – the player “sits” behind a chosen player and watches the game from his point of view.

The behind the seat player can then choose to follow the player he is watching, so that every action this player takes on the table will apply to the player behind him. Additionally, one can become a behind the seat player behind multiple players, and players actively playing on the table can also participate.
Take Part in the Game

Regardless of the follow mode which is deactivated by default, behind the seat players can partake in the game with splitting, following, taking insurance and doubling. The behind the seat player is prompted to take these decisions earlier, before the main player makes his own decisions.

If the main player’s decisions do not align with the behind the seat player’s, the latter’s are canceled or changed. For example, when a main player doubles after the behind the seat player split, the behind the seat player’s decision will be reversed and considered a Hit and Stand.
Relax and Learn

The behind the seat feature allows players to enjoy a relaxed game of blackjack by overlooking the action from the back seat, with the given option to engage more actively in the game. Additionally, the behind the seat feature allows players to learn the ropes of blackjack and more specifically how it is played at a live dealer table. This has proved very popular with table game players at Playtech casinos like 7Regal, where there is a good mixture of rookie and seasoned players.

Win Big With Jungle Giants Online Slot

Jungle Giants features the regular safari animals but it cannot be called a safari themed slot. The animals seem to inhabit a fantasy kingdom displayed in the background of the reels. The animals wear ornaments fir for a king and this makes their majesty more imposing. If you like animals in your video slots you will love this epic offering from Playtech. It is live at online casinos like Casino Tropez and Omni Casino.

To start with Jungle Giants is a fixed 50 payline slot game. You will not find many of these in the 5×3 reels structure. The maximum total bet can go as high as $2,500, which will bring in all the high rollers. The Wild logo is the wild symbol. It also awards the top line payouts of 1000 coins. The epic payouts will come through the giant symbols feature. The high paying symbols are the jungle giants that include elephant, rhinoceros, gorilla, hippopotamus and buffalo. The graphics depict them as imposing and arrogant. They are high paying only in comparison. The top payout for five elephants is only 150 times the line bet. The low paying symbols are the playing card icons. All symbols can appear stacked on reels 1 and 5. The wild symbol and the high symbols can appear as giant symbols across reels 2, 3 and 4. These are 3×3 blocks that may fully or partially cover the middle three reels. It is possible to fill all 15 spaces with the same high symbol. If this is done with the wild symbol the payout for that spin will be 50,000 times the line bet.

The game logo appears as a 3×3 giant symbol on the middle three reels. If it fully covers reels 2, 3 and 4 then you will be awarded 8 free spins. You obviously do not pay for these spins but collect the payouts. However, there are other advantages as well. All the low paying playing card symbols are removed from the reels. The wild and the animal symbols are necessarily giant symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4. And these symbols are necessarily stacked on reels 1 and 5. So the chances of covering the reels with the same symbol increase considerably. The free spins can be triggered indefinitely.

Jungle Giants online slot has the usual Playtech modalities. The Auto Play feature and the Turbo Mode are available. You can also customise the audio settings to your liking.

Development of Slot Machines

Slot machines are easily the most popular form of gaming today. Today, slot machines are big in casinos, both online as well as brick and mortar ones. They rake in almost 60% of the profits a casino generates. However, this was not the case when slot machines first came into the picture. Casinos first introduced slot machines to provide gamers with a diversion from the regular gambling games.

The first slot machines were built in the late 1880s and were basic models. Charles Fey of San Francisco built the first machine with three reels in 1887. There were a total of five symbols on the reels and the machine was a great success with Fey working hard to keep the economic equation of demand and supply well balanced.

So what draws a casino visitor to slot machines? The first attraction a slot machine provides is ease of play. The second attraction is the short time span for each game; each game takes a very short time to complete. The third attraction is that players do not require special skills or knowledge of gambling, just the ability to make a bet, a small one at that.

While the early slot machines used a mechanical design, the machines of today are based on computer chips. However, whatever the base, the elementary rules of the game have not changed; only the technology has. Technological advances have contributed to the growing popularity of the game. From the early days till today, the primary objective of playing the slots has been to win money from the machine.

To play the game the player inserts coins into the slot and activates the machine by pulling on a lever/button, in the case of the earlier machines. In the case of the latest machines, the player presses a symbol on the touchscreen. The lever or the symbol sets the reels in motion. The lineup of the images painted on the reels, and on the screens in case of the modern machines, decides the outcome.

The machine gives the illusion of skill being required; actually it is simply a game of chance. If the images in the pay line match, the player wins. If they do not match, the player loses. Sometimes, a player may win on the basis of single images; however, that depends on the pay-table being used. While the general principle behind a slot game remains the same there are several variations to the game.

Video poker is one variation of slot machines that is extremely popular today. It is based on poker where the objective is to have a set of symbols appear on screen that correspond to a winning poker hand. Played on a video console, this game has become very popular with gamers worldwide.

In video poker, a player starts the game by inserting coins into the machine and hitting the Deal button. This allows him to draw cards. The player can either retain these cards or discard them and draw new cards from the virtual deck. At this point the machine evaluates the hand and the player gets a payout based on the pay table.

Another variation of slot machines is the progressive slot machine. A progressive slot is essentially a set of machines linked to each other over a network. The jackpot continues to grow as more people join the game across interconnected computers and the person who hits the winning combination hits the jackpot. The jackpot in these machines is usually big, as a percentage of the money that is played on each machine goes into it.

In progressive slots, while the jackpot is large, the payout percentage is usually lower than in other slot machines because of the added cost of operating machines in multiple locations.

There are other variations where the player can play either the machine or the other players. There are also slot games that offer bonuses for certain combinations or allow players to qualify for larger stakes when they win. Widespread access to the Internet also means an increase in the number of PC-based slot machine games that allow players to play from the comforts of home, without coming to a casino or a gaming parlor.

The slot machine has come a long way from its humble beginnings and continues to grow in many ways while being a source of genuine fun.

What to watch for when playing Craps online

Some of the online casino games that people play are more easily adapted from their traditional table top venues to the online world than others. In these cases players have to be extra careful when choosing to play a game that they might love playing in a real casino, but that might not be necessarily as good in an online environment.
Many traditional card games, like Poker and Blackjack, lend themselves easily to the online world and it is easy for programmers to design games that replicate game play rather well. Other games, however, can be so delicate to replicate and so full of variation that designing a truly good replication of the game can be very difficult. With today’s advances in gaming programs, software, algorithms, and the like it can most certainly be done but is it done every time? Can great gaming, say in the game of Craps, be found anywhere on the Internet whenever a player chooses that they want to play?

Craps has a lot of things going on during any particular game. Aside from the fact that there are a multitude of betting options for players to choose, which makes this game so much fun, there is the issue of the rolling of the dice, etc… It is this issue alone that can cause some trepidation to the Craps game designer. A random number generator can easily cause random numbers to be spit out from the virtual dice and this is exactly what generally happens. All of this is fine, but on the other hand, there are entire gambling systems that teach players how to roll the dice for maximum effect. This is not to say that players are taught to cheat. That is another topic altogether. There are those that teach players how to shave dice a certain way, how to weight the dice so that it spins, etc… These methods are very tricky at best and in today’s brick and mortar casinos this is a method for instant disaster. But there are legitimate methods on rolling dice that do allow a player to have some control over how the dice rolls on a particular surface. Obviously, this isn’t the case in the online gaming world. If dice rolling is a player’s forte they may want to consider sticking to live tables, or just coming to the realization that they will in no way be able to control the dice on the table. In reality this may very well be the best option. What is fairer than that?

Also, when playing Craps online players are aided by the gaming program itself. This is considerably useful when a player is just beginning but can be annoying if a player is skilled in advanced Craps techniques and the gaming program doesn’t allow for those techniques to be utilized. This is true of most online games but it can be particularly difficult if the game is as intricate as Craps can be.

Craps, as in all online casino games, can be found in varying forms from the excellent to the horrific. If a player knows what they are looking for they can find themselves a winner.

The social aspect of online poker rooms

Many online poker rooms are endorsed as online gambling havens, forgetting the fact that poker, in itself is a social game. It requires a player to involve himself not only mentally, but psychologically and socially as well. One has to have the knack or rather skill of getting along with the other players in the poker room as well as being amicable and being able to read the expressions of the other player and anticipate his next move.

The social aspect of online poker rooms often relates to how much fun and how much interaction the online poker rooms can generate between players. These online poker rooms offer forums where players can discuss game strategy, different sites, tournaments and this is also where seasoned players can hand out tips to novices- it’s a whole community out there that not only focuses in the social aspect of online poker rooms but makes the game all the more fun and sociable as well.

Many online poker rooms try to make the atmosphere more sociable by adding chat rooms or forums to the page to allow players to interact informally. An online poker room can become anything form boring to outright obnoxious if the social aspect is ignored. The players in online poker rooms are anonymous and usually do not feel the need to interact with the other players as the motive is usually to win. but online poker rooms that provide forums and chat rooms for players encourage inter-player communication , which in turn makes the game more fun , the online poker rooms much more lively and the competition more fierce as each player knows what he s up against. In most cases it is the social aspect of online poker rooms that attracts or repels a player.

The social aspect of online poker rooms, which is basically making the game more sociable and fun, allows you to meet new people and make new friends who share the same interests, which is often the deciding factor. This is especially helpful for those online poker players who do not have the time to actually go out on a Friday night to play a relaxing game of poker. They can instead log on to any of the online poker rooms available and start an online game or simply join a poker chat room or forum that is available on the site.

There are various online poker rooms that have links to online poker blogs, which is an entirely social activity, thus keeping the social aspect of online poker rooms very much alive. While many online poker rooms contain just information and downloadable or online versions of the game, a majority of online poker rooms are cashing in on the social aspect of online poker rooms and are making their online poker rooms more fun and interactive; or in other words, more sociable. The social aspect of online poker rooms has improved player interaction and the social networking of the online poker rooms.

Online Gambling: Thou Shalt or Thou Shalt Not?

For the most part, monotheistic religion frowns on gambling; the Judeo-Christian morality on which most English speaking countries have founded their laws, all be it via various degrees of separation, considers gambling, online or otherwise to be a big no-no; a Thou Shalt Not, in other words. But why? A sport is a sport, and entertainment costs money so why is this particular form of entertainment generally considered with distaste.

A Christian would find it difficult to produce a clear biblical injunction in either the Old or New Testament against gambling, however he may proffer one of several possible arguments inferred from the text. There are a number of examples in which the New Testament clearly indicates that work is the way to make money, and should this prove impossible then prayer must be turned to (see Eph. 4:28; IIThess. 3:12; Phil.4:6, 19). This, the Christian may argue, is clearly a prohibition against professional gambling, but what of gambling for fun? It may be argued that at various points in the Bible it is made clear that all earthly belongings actually belong to God and therefore people should use them only for God’s bidding, and gambling is not that. Furthermore, greed and covetousness are both strictly prohibited in the bible and both are often understood to be contributing factors to the desire to gamble. Finally, there are a number of ‘character’ arguments that are drawn from the Scriptures including that getting rich quick brings disasters, money raised through inappropriate means breaks up families (Prov. 15:27), and as in Corinthians 8 it is each Christians responsibility to set a good example and partaking in a potentially addictive activity is not setting a good example.

Further general biblical principles often sited as being contravened by gambling include loving thy neighbor, not taking advantage of the poor, and trust in God to provide. That being said, if all players are consenting adults and playing purely for entertainment, what is the problem?

The Jewish response may be a little fuzzier. For starters there are a number of examples in the Jewish books of the bible where lots were drawn to determine issues: One may ask, if God can reveal his wish through lots and all is his will why does this logic disappear when it comes to gambling? Post-biblical Jewish scripture relates that a professional gambler should not be trusted as a witness, telling us that in the time of the rabbis such a person may have existed but it makes no judgment specifically regarding the status of gambling as legal or not. The strongest denouncement in Jewish tradition of gambling comes from the middle ages and the great teacher Maimonides who taught that gambling between Jews was prohibited as money was taken by one party against the other party’s wishes: Maimonides understood that no-one wanted to loose and therefore the money taken was in fact stolen. For Maimonides the winner of a game of dice on which money was bet was a thief, and the loser had simply wasted his time. Having said that, there are a number of gambling traditions within the Jewish year, for example dreidle spinning on Chanukah, and it is not unusual to find raffles or lottery style fund raisers in synagogues today.

So, is online gambling a Thou Shalt or a Thou Shalt Not? You have the information, now it’s up to you to decide.

Gambling online: A historic overview

The history of online gaming is short but sweet; the story really begins in 1994 when the governing body of Antigua Barbuda passed the “Free Trade and Processing Zone” act. This act essentially allowed for the issuing of gaming licenses to any persons or companies who wished to open an internet casino.

Although the law was passed, there was not the software with which to accomplish the possibilities, and so in the same year Microgaming was born, followed very shortly by CryptoLogic. Both now known as giants of the internet gaming world, these companies studiously developed software and security so that in 1996 the first online casino opened it’s lobby to gamblers of the world.

The years of 1996-1998 showed growth beyond comparison in the online gaming world due to a number of factors. Firstly the speed with which the internet and access to it grew within these years was unprecedented in the history of technology. Secondly the number of casinos increased at such a speed, and with the added demand, the software development galloped along at unparalleled velocity. It was during this period that Microgaming introduced the first ever progressive jackpot; Cash Splash.

Just as it didn’t take long for the online gaming industry to gather momentum, so it didn’t take it’s opponents long either to muster an attack. Senator John Kyl, the Republican from Arizona introduced the “Internet Gambling Prohibition Act” in 1998; it died in the House. By this point the online gaming industry, only 2 years old, was worth an estimated $1 billion and was showing no signs of going into decline. None-the-less Senator Kyl returned the following year with a repackaged bill; again it fails, but Senator John Kyl spends the next 6 years lobbying, introducing, and reintroducing bills.

By 1999, there were reckoned to be 700 online casinos and it is in this year, on April 10th; that ‘Lasseters’ opens; the first and last Australian online casino. Another land mark event in 1999, was Microgaming’s introduction of independent auditing and payout assessments into the online gaming world. Using the world renowned Price-Waterhouse-Cooper, Microgaming set a standard for all online casino providers that reflected the safety and security of play that the casino customers required.

By the time the new millennium rolled in there were more casinos than ever, more software providers, more progressive jackpots, more players and more licensers, with Gibraltar being added to the list; Gibraltar would go on to be one of the biggest license providers online.

By 2001, some of the biggest casino’s were boasting over half a million accounts, and even with the bills finally passed in Congress in 2002 and 2003 limiting online gambling, the industry continued and continues to grow; now worth an estimated $49 billion.

Europe The New Mecca Of Online Gaming?

Ever since the US lawmakers banned the Internet casinos in the country with a view to ban games that relied more on ‘chance’ than ‘skills’ and encouraged random gambling among the people, rumor has it that Europe will soon emerge as the new destination for online gaming. There is also speculation that, with its fast growing economies, Asia also could turn out to be a flourishing market for the multitude of online gaming companies who have left the US shores recently.

A cursory glance at the present status at the online gaming industry in the US will reveal that while a large number of Internet casino companies have downed their shutters in the wake of the recent ban against online gambling there, some others like Superior Poker has already publicized its plans to launch new casino websites and also accept American players. This means that the ban has not been able to disarm all the online casino players from quitting business from the US and in the absence of competition, these online gaming companies now have brighter prospects of increasing their revenues. On the other hand, even the companies which have quit the American shores following the ban and trying to set up bases in the United Kingdom or neighboring West Indies still have their eyes on the US players.

Talking about Europe becoming the hub of the online casinos, it is pertinent to say that cultures and economies of only three nations – the United Kingdom, Germany and France – on the continent fit the bill for the online gaming industry. But then, opposition to online gambling in Germany and France is so intense that US gaming companies trying to set foot on these soil may find them out of business even before they start off. While Germany has already banned online gaming in some of its provinces, France is too keen to toe the US line in this regard. And as far as the United Kingdom is concerned, although nearly six million people log on to the gaming websites here, competition from the home-grown online casinos is too stiff to overcome.
Looking at Asia, Japan is probably the only nation where the online gaming companies can expect to set their foot on. However, if the population and Oriental culture of the country is taken into account, this is too small a market to accommodate and feed the online gaming companies who have left the US. China and India may be among the fastest growing economies in the world with rapidly increasing Internet users, but they have no place for the online gaming business.
All these only prove that although the recent ban has hit the online gaming industry in the US, players there still continue to be the largest market for the casino companies. Europe and Asia offer no solution whatsoever for their survival. Even though many of the online gaming industries may be compelled to shift their physical base, they will continue to rely on the US players. All that they require to do now is evolve novel methods to enable monetary transactions with their loyal customers to evade the ban.
